New Domestic Abuse policy and legal aid update
Here at Stonewater, we work hard to tackle Domestic Abuse in all forms. We have over 20 years of experience in delivering refuge and safe accommodation services and have a team of skilled, specially trained colleagues who can support customers who may be affected by domestic abuse.
We’ve recently reviewed and updated our Customer Domestic Abuse Policy and published it on our website so that our customers know about what we can do to support you.
The new policy has been created using feedback from customers and listening carefully to the thoughts of domestic abuse survivors and making sure that we're offering the support that customers need.
If you need to speak to us, a member of our team will provide confidential support and refer you to specialist domestic abuse services who can minimise the risks to you and your family, explain your rights and offer professional, safe support. We can also speak with you about your housing needs.
We work hard to make sure that our services are inclusive and if you need any support to access them, we’ll work with you and do everything we can to help.
Take a look at our website for more information and view our updated policy here.
Access to legal aid extended to vulnerable people
In May, the Government announced that it was pledging an extra £25m in legal aid to support people experiencing domestic abuse.
As well as the extra money, people on universal credit and seeking a protective order for themselves or their children against their abusers will not have to face a means test to access legal aid.
There's more information on the Government's website here.
