Scrutiny Panel
meet your new members
Back in our November update we told you we’d recruited new members to the panel. Each year the Scrutiny Panel offers customers the chance to apply to join. This not only guarantees different customers have the opportunity to get involved and help to improve services from a customer perspective, but it also makes sure Stonewater is hearing a really diverse range of customer voices.
Our newest members have been aboard for a few months now and they’re keen to introduce themselves and tell you about their reasons for joining the Scrutiny Panel.
Dan
Hi, my name is Dan. I’ve been living in a Stonewater leasehold property for close to 15 years. I decided to join the Scrutiny Panel to give something back to the community and try to give opinions from a differing viewpoint.
I’ve worked in social housing for 20 years. Due to the experience I have, I knew I could add something to the panel and hope it makes improvements to Stonewater for us all.
It’s been good meeting other Stonewater residents to hear their voices and to find out the diverse opinions they have to make changes for the better.
Hello I’m Alistair and I joined the scrutiny panel "to try and make a difference" for Stonewater Customers. I wanted to have my voice heard in how we improve systems and procedures by making sure the customers point of view is part of the design.
I’m really looking forward to getting involved over the coming months!
Marisha
I joined the scrutiny panel because I believe in being a part of the change I want to see. Tenants at Stonewater deserve to be provided with a quality service and to live in homes they are proud of, where they can feel safe and content. Our homes are vital for our general health and mental well-being.
I hope by being a part of the scrutiny panel that we make a positive difference and help to influence change especially around service charges and customer service.
The best part of the scrutiny panel so far has to be the passion of the panel members. They all genuinely want Stonewater to be the best housing provider and they care about their fellow tenants and leaseholders. The panel is diverse and all bring different qualities and experiences which I hope will make for a successful group. I look forward to being more involved!
Cade
Hi I’m Cade and have been a Stonewater tenant since 2018. I formally knew nothing about Housing Associations and I only contacted the company to report repairs. Over recent times I have chatted to some of my neighbours and discovered that we all shared the same concerns regarding our homes. When I found out about the Scrutiny Panel I thought this would be a great opportunity to find out more about Stonewater and hopefully make a positive difference to tenants right across the country.
I formally ran residential care homes for people with autism so I am pleased to be able to utilise my skills and experiences to improve tenant outcomes. I feel passionate about fairness, equality and strong means of communication and I simply like finding workable solutions for peoples’ problems.
I have only been a panel member since December and have already attended in person and virtual meetings where I have been able to ask direct questions about Stonewater, suggest policy changes, meet other dedicated volunteers and felt truly listened to. I have even been allocated a laptop and have access to online training as well in-person support. I am still learning about my role but I have already discovered that Stonewater does far more for tenants than I had imagined. When I joined the Panel I disclosed that I have Asperger’s Syndrome as it is an important part of my identity, the Panel has been very welcoming and made small adjustments to in-person meetings so I can attend without worry. I am really happy about this as it demonstrates to me that Stonewater and my fellow panellists are serious about equality, diversity and the rights of disabled persons.
I am looking forward to learning more and being part of a team that is actively working to improve peoples’ lives.
The Scrutiny Panel and everyone at Stonewater are absolutely thrilled to welcome the new recruits and we’re looking forward to putting their skills, experience and enthusiasm to good use.
