New Happy to Chat benches

Two new community benches have been installed in shared green spaces across Chippenham, helping create more welcoming places for people to sit, talk and connect.

We’re pleased to have helped with this project by securing a £3,124 community investment grant to fund the improvements. Working in partnership with Wiltshire Council, we’ve helped turn this community idea into a real, on-the-ground improvement.

The benches have been installed by the council at Hungerdown Lane and Westcroft Park. Each one includes a “Happy to Chat” plaque, encouraging conversation between neighbours and helping to reduce loneliness and social isolation.

Despite heavy rain on the day of installation, the Get Wiltshire Walking community still joined in to celebrate the new benches and posed for photos between showers!

This is part of our wider commitment to working closely with local partners and customers to strengthen neighbourhoods, improve wellbeing and create more connected communities.
