Money support with Clean Slate

Our partnership with Clean Slate means that you can access more support than ever.

Recently, we met with one of our customers, Alex* (*name changed for privacy) who'd been unemployed for a year and lacked confidence. They faced financial barriers and struggled to know where to start to get back into employment.

We connected Alex with our partner Clean Slate, who provided employment support through their Quids in! 7 Signs programme. This programme is designed to support with overcoming barriers to work, helping to identify skills and passions and exploring different ways to finding employment. It centres around the 7 Signs: Skills, Passion, Motivation, Expectations, Vision, Presentation and Asking for Help.

From this, Alex was able to find employment quickly and has increased their annual income by almost £18,000!

The Quids in! programme offers up to three weeks of support and is split into three sessions. This is all done over the phone, meaning there's no cost or travel required.

Alex and the Clean Slate team discussed:

• What Alex needed support with.
• What skills Alex already had, and what jobs they could see themselves doing.
• Their current situation, their personal strengths and areas they wanted to improve.

Following this, they:

• Reviewed and updated their CV, highlighting skills and experience.
• Learned how to tailor an application for a role to make sure it stands out.
• Worked on interview techniques, including practise questions and ways to answer questions confidently.
• Shared tips for making a positive impression during interviews.

In-between appointments, Alex received ongoing guidance by email, including resources and and advice to keep them on track in their search for employment.

Their polished CV and increased confidence led Alex to successfully finding a role. They were also approved for a grant to cover costs of clothing and travel for the first month of work!
