A day in the life
Meet Kim Gibson, Fuel Engagement Customer Partner!
I’ve been part of the team at Stonewater for almost three years.
While I’ve worked in social housing for the past 10 years, I’ve also worked with charities and organisations supporting people to maintain their tenancy and find appropriate accommodation for those experiencing homelessness.
Outside of work, I keep chickens which are great for eggs and the comedy factor!
My typical workday involves chatting to people in Stonewater homes who need a little bit of help. This could be local or national support through independent energy assessment charities, referrals for food banks, energy vouchers, furniture, education support or other things, all with the aim to get the best outcome for the person I’m working with.
My role also involves speaking with energy companies on our customers’ behalf, supporting people with clearing energy debt and setting up affordable payment plans, contacting the energy ombudsman and linking customers with other support services that can provide help.

Throughout winter, my main work is around supporting customers with keeping warm through the rising cost of living. I look at lots of different ways to help ensure customer’s heating can stay on. I think a lot of people don’t know the amount of support that is available for them within their local community.
Working with our customers and being able to make their day a bit better brings me joy! I speak with a lot of customers from all over the country with different experiences and situations and knowing we can work together to get the best outcome and learn new things as we go is amazing.
I’m proud of my role and the support we can provide. Being able to offer much-needed support to customers makes me proud to come to work every day.
The support available changes all the time so it’s really important I keep up with what’s happening. Funding can change between regions and be dependent on the time of year, which means different support is available at different times. The main thing I would like you to know is to reach out if you’re in need of support, struggling, or even if you just want more information.
There’s a lot of support available locally and nationally, and you are not on your own. We all need support sometimes, so please reach out.
You can find lots more about support with money, on our website, including our handy Help with Money Guide. The energy hub can also help you to get the most out of your energy supply and save some money. You can find the energy hub, here.
