Out in your communities

This summer, we visited several of your neighbourhoods to hear directly from you about your homes, the services we provide and your community.
These events are a great opportunity for us to meet, talk and hear your valuable feedback and ideas for improving your local spaces and our services.
Over 150 customers joined us across eight community days!

We were also joined by many of our partners and contractors, including Hampshire & Isle of White Fire Rescue, local police forces and local council waste and recycling teams.
At The Three Closes, Loughborough…
We were joined by many customers who are already really active in their community and meet weekly in their communal space.
We also met a group of customers who've been improving their shared areas by creating garden spaces. Our contractors, Ian Williams, Pinnacle and Bell, supported these efforts by providing raised beds, plants, compost, paint and water butts.
The local Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) and volunteers from the Incredible Edible group (who are passionate about transforming unused urban spaces into edible gardens, encouraging communities to grow food together, fostering connections and promoting local food production) also came along.
We’ll be continuing to support all the work they do through community grants and featuring them in our community newsletter.
At Charlotte's Wharf, Southampton…
20 customers joined us!
Volunteers from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire Service were on hand to promote their wellbeing checks, and Southampton City Council’s refuse team did a door-to-door visit to share information about waste management, what should and shouldn't be put in different bins and recycling.
Thanks to a great suggestion from one of our customers, we’ll now be adding glass recycling bins to the scheme to make it easier for everyone to recycle and keep the area cleaner. We also cleared out the bike store and are planning improvements to both the bin store and the surrounding area to help tackle fly-tipping. These changes are part of our commitment to listening to customer feedback and making real improvements that help create a cleaner, safer, and more welcoming place to live.
At St Mary's, Wantage…
Despite the rain, we had a great turnout!
We donated litter pickers to a very proactive group of local customers who are working hard to help keep their community clean and tidy. The local council’s waste and recycling team were there on the day, helping to empty the bin stores and promote the benefits of recycling for the community and the planet.
We’re now working with a group of customers who were inspired to host their very own community event, as well as creating a garden space for all living at the scheme.
At Dormer Court...
We met with local customers, and were also joined by our Chief Operating Officer, David Ripley!
Customers shared their experiences of daily life at the retirement living scheme with us, and we also enjoyed a walk around the building and grounds, getting to see how the shared spaces are used. The friendly conversations throughout the day really showed the strong sense of community within Dormer Court, with many customers taking pride in the place they call home.
Customers felt their voices were heard, and our team said how much they valued the warm welcome they received!

At Tanyard Farm, Coventry…
We were joined by our contractors Krinkels and Wates, who provided gloves, bin bags and litter pickers – which were a big hit with the kids! These will also be shared with our Coventry and Warwickshire schemes to continue supporting local efforts to keep communal spaces clean and tidy.
Really Awesome Coffee and Wates kept the community fed and watered with coffee and a barbecue!
A huge thank you to everyone who joined and supported this year’s community days! These events brought us together to share ideas, ask questions, and talk about how we can make your neighbourhoods better. They’re a great way for us to listen, understand what matters to you, and work with our partners to help tackle local issues.
You don’t have to wait for an event to make a difference – whether it’s organising a litter-pick, lending a helping hand to a neighbour, or starting up a shared garden, there are many ways to make an impact in your local community.
Join us over on the customer hubb to stay connected and tell us about what’s happening in your area!
