Ageing Well Board
In August, our Ageing Well Board were joined by members of the Stonewater team to find out more about some of the fantastic activities that were being run in our communities to help people aged 55 and over stay connected.
Community and Wellbeing Connectors Jenny Jones, Tami Taylor and Jane Mealing came along to the session to let everyone know a bit more about the work we’re doing to help everyone stay engaged with their friends and neighbours, promote positive health and wellbeing, stay active, benefit from free digital training and feel part of something bigger.
During the session, the group talked about how important it is to be part of a community, to feel like you belong and discussed the role we all play in tackling loneliness – an issue that can have a serious impact on mental health.
As a result of the session, the board decided that their priorities over the next 12 months will be:
- Understanding the housing needs of over 55s living in Stonewater homes, whether in retirement living or our wider communities.
- To work with Stonewater to make sure customers stay informed about the things that matter to them such as rent and service charges or changes in services in a simple-to-understand and easy-to-access way
- Promoting activities in retirement living schemes and the surrounding communities to make sure people feel connected and included in their communities
- Actively promote warm hubs throughout the winter and encourage people aged over 55 to come along
The board will also continue to provide crucial support and guidance for Stonewater for key projects that impact people aged 55 and over, such as the Invite project.
